This is my attempt at a no-sew tutu tutorial. I made Mia a blue and white tutu for Chanukah and decided to make one for Valentine's Day as well. If my instructions completely confuse you, but you would like to make a no-sew tutu, you can find several video tutorials on YouTube. Just type in no-sew tutu tutorials.
Lets get started.
First, gather all your materials.
You will need:
A spool of ribbon (I used ribbon 1 1/2 inches wide)
Scissors
A tape measure or ruler
At least 3 yards tulle depending on size of baby (I used 1 yard of each color, which was enough when Mia was 5 months old, but at 7.5 months old-wearing size 12 month clothes-, I ran a little short. Luckily I had some left over white tulle from Chanukah)
Next, use ribbon to measure baby's waist. Tie two knots to mark the size you need (tulle will go between the two knots. Be sure to leave extra ribbon on each end to tie into a bow.
Here are my two knots.
Next, take your 1 yard piece of fabric and cut in half.
Next, take your half yard piece of fabric and fold in half. Do not cut in half.
Next, starting at one end, roll tulle (I like to start at the folded end and roll towards myself).
Next, cut the ends off so your roll of tulle will be the same thickness end to end.
Next, using your tape measure or ruler, cut your roll of tulle into 3 inch pieces.
Now, take each piece of rolled tulle and loop onto your ribbon (in between the two knots).
Then, slide each piece down towards the knot.
I used 3 pieces of each color, alternating red-pink-white all the way down.
Tie end pieces into a bow and you're done!
See where there are a bunch of white pieces in the back? That's where I ran short and had to use my leftover tulle from Chanukah.
Pictures of little Miss Mia in her tutu to come.
Beautiful Stacey,,,loving and creative! xoxo
